Dr Edward Roufail is a director of Eye Laser Specialists. He is an experienced Ophthalmologist having acquired FRANZCO in 2005. He completed multiple advanced surgical retinal training fellowships in England, New Zealand and Australia.
He has a unique skill set with special interests in cataract, refractive and vitreo retinal surgery and can offer treatment for retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease, surgical macular disease, complex and routine cataract surgery.

As an experienced eye surgeon, Dr Edward Roufail has expertise in performing corneal refractive procedures, including SMILE, LASIK, PRK and Presbyond. He’s passionate about improving his patients’ eyesight through laser vision correction. Dr Roufail established Melbourne’s newest and most technologically advanced laser vision correction centre. He’s one of only two surgeons to offer SMILE in Victoria (making him one of the most experienced SMILE surgeons in the state), and he’s one of the first to offer Presbyond in Australia.
Edward has obtained a high level of surgical training in Australia, and overseas. Having obtained his FRANZCO in 2005, he has completed multiple fellowships in retinal surgery in Australia, New Zealand and England, in addition to advanced laser vision correction training at the London Vision Clinic with Professor Dan Reinstein.
Edward has performed thousands of cataract, retinal and macular surgeries and routinely, performs over 500 intraocular surgeries a year, including MFIOL and ICL. He is passionate about using the latest technology to deliver the best outcomes for patients.
As a member of AUSCRS (Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons), it’s no wonder Edward is particularly interested in cataractand refractive surgery, not to mention having a keen interest in retinal detachments, diabetic eye diseases, and surgical macular disease.
