Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr Ben’s ophthalmology journey has taken him from the UK to Singapore and then to Melbourne, where he brings his wealth of knowledge to ELS. With additional fellowship training in complex cataracts, Dr Ben is also Clinical Lead for the Acute Ophthalmology Service at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and a Consultant at Yarra Ranges Health.
During his medical training in London, Dr Ben’s interest in the surgical finesse required in eye care was inspired by the mentorship of Dr Chad Rostron. Dr Ben now serves as a member of the Victorian RANZCO Qualifications and Education Committee and enjoys numerous leadership roles. He continues to refine his clinical techniques as part of his ongoing professional development. Dr Ben values collaborative practice and remains open to new ideas, with a focus on ongoing learning and patient-centred care.
Outside of his consulting and operating rooms, Dr Ben enjoys family time and a regular game of badminton. He puts his mental and physical stamina to the test racing obstacle courses, dragon boats and white-water kayaks. His personal mantra is, ‘Be honest, be chilled and be meticulous when it matters.’
