Can laser eye surgery fix astigmatism, long-sightedness and short-sightedness?
Eye laser surgery certainly can fix all three parameters of ametropia, including astigmatism, short-sightedness, and long-sightedness.
Different platforms perform better for different aspects of pathology.
So SMILE is suitable for myopia or short-sightedness, as well as astigmatism. Whereas LASIK is more suitable for farsightedness, astigmatism, and short-sightedness. PRK can fix all three, but we’ll recommend the most appropriate platform to correct whatever is necessary to fix your problem.
If you want to see if you’re a good candidate to have eye laser surgery, then I encourage you to take the self-test. It will take a few minutes of your time and give you a good idea if you can take the next step into getting better vision without glasses and contact lenses.
