How can you create a flap with laser eye surgery?
In this post, Dr David Cropman from Eye Laser Specialists discusses the two ways of creating a flap with laser surgery. There’s microkeratome, which is a mechanical method, and there is a femtosecond laser, which does it with a laser. The femtosecond laser has pretty much superseded the microkeratome because the microkeratome treatment comes with more risks, it creates a thicker flap; which leaves the cornea more unstable at the end. So almost all surgeons around the world now will do it with a laser, called a Femto-Laser.
If you want to see if you’re a good candidate to have eye laser surgery, then we encourage you to take the self-test. It will take a few minutes of your time and give you a good idea if you can take the next step into getting better vision without glasses and contact lenses.
