Has anyone gone blind from laser eye surgery?
Eye laser surgery is a procedure that changes the shape of the cornea, which is the clear transparent cap that covers the front of the eye. This cornea is the major part of the refractive apparatus of your eye which aims to focus the light.
Any surgical procedure has risks of complications. This is no different with laser vision correction. The incidents of serious sight threatening or blinding complications is extremely low, less than one in a thousand.
While consideration should be given to these facts, realistically they’re less likely than being hit by a car crossing the road.
If you’re considering having eye laser surgery and being free of the burden of glasses or contact lenses, then we’d encourage you to do the self test.
It will only take a few minutes of your time to find out whether you might be a good candidate for this procedure, and it’ll be the first step in your journey to having greater vision without glasses.
