Find refreshing treatments at our Dry Eye Spa, Melbourne
If your eyes feel gritty, sore or tired, you might have dry eye syndrome. At Eye Laser Specialists, we offer soothing treatments that can bring lasting comfort and relief.
Dry eye syndrome is a common eye condition, and Melbourne’s hot, dry, windy climate can exacerbate the symptoms. You may notice red, irritated eyes, vision that fluctuates with blinking, or a gritty, tired feeling. In some cases, dry eye can even trigger watery eyes.
Dry eye discomfort often worsens with contact lenses, air conditioning, or extended screen time, which can be difficult to avoid. Fortunately, our optometrists can assess your symptoms, diagnose the underlying causes and help you manage the condition. Treatments include tailored at-home care routines or in-clinic therapy if you need a little more support.

Assessment
How is dry eye assessed?
We begin with a conversation about your symptoms and experience. Then we’ll examine your eyes and run diagnostic tests to pinpoint the type and cause of your dry eye condition.
Diagnostic dyes highlight dryness patterns on the ocular surface.
Meibomian gland imaging checks for blockages and evaporative dry eye.
The tear osmolarity test measures tear stability and inflammation.
Based on our findings, we’ll determine the cause of your dry eye symptoms and tailor a treatment plan to help.
Depending on your symptoms and diagnosis, we may recommend lifestyle and supplement changes. Many patients respond well to warm compresses, artificial tear lubricants, flaxseed or omega-3 supplements.
But if you need more intensive dry eye therapy to achieve comfortable eyes, our in-clinic Eye Spa offers the latest technologies for deeper, longer-lasting results.
IPL (intense pulsed light) and
LLLT (low-level light therapy)
In this gentle, non-invasive procedure, we use precise bursts of light to target abnormal blood vessels, calming inflammation and stimulating meibomian gland function and healthy tear flow.
Lipiflow
During this non-invasive procedure, we apply gentle heat and pressure to your eyelids to unblock the meibomian glands. This helps to restore natural oil production and improve tear quality.
BlephEx®
If blepharitis is contributing to your dry eye, this treatment gently cleanses and exfoliates your eyelid margins, removing irritants and improving overall eyelid health and hygiene.
